APT Rocksliders - options - need help please.

I'm about to pull the pin on a pair of APT rock sliders for my D3.
I know others have had "mods" done to them before buying to suit individual needs.
I have a vertically challenged partner and i'm looking for these sliders to not only offer some protection off road, but to give her a step up into the truck.
A "friend" took us for a ride in his brand new Land Cruiser and it had running boards, so I've been told what a great idea they are!!!!!!!!!
Is there an option, or have others had changes made, to use the APT units as a "step" or running board type thing????
I'll talk to APT next week, but thought I'd ask for some options/opinions from my learned brethren.

On my D4 I just added grip tape I bought from Bunnings to my APT sliders:

    Croc Grip 5m x 48mm Black Anti-Slip Tape | Bunnings Warehouse

When the door is open the bars project out far enough that this combo works a treat for making it into a step without being just the slippery powder coating, esp when wet.

I also bought the tape roller from the same section to help apply it well without bubbles. So far been on my car for 2.5 years through all weather and trips to Pilbara. Still good as new.

Sorry for torchlight photos, but hopefully you get the idea...

APT now offers a step insert for the top surface, which looks pretty good and makes a very useful flat step like surface.
Mine sliders are the same as above but without the grip tape and my wife finds that fine for getting in, although no doubt the insert is even better.
Check with APT, it may be feasible to buy without and see how that goes, then purchase the inserts later if a better step is required.

    Cheers,
    Scott

FYI, PCB sell those sliders. I saw a set for a D4 on the floor a week or 2 ago

The APT rock sliders now come with a step insert which my wife finds useful...which is always a good thing! The install is straight forward and Ben has some pretty informative install videos on the APT website.

Ministry of Finance is still deciding on budget allocations! In other words, it's on hold (temporarily!)

I've tried giving them money, they don't answer the phone or respond to email.

I contacted APT and they pointed me to their Vic distributor. Contacted them and very helpful, although the next week or so will tell when delivery is expected

APT Rock Sliders with step in fill.

These are the new APT sliders with the step infill.... which I also picked up from the Vic supplier @ Rova Range in East Bentleigh. SWMBO uses them as a step without any problems.

    Pretty straight forward to install.

Remove the yellow lugs and the sealed threaded holes (just follow the instructions / APT video).

The only issue I had was that I had to tap out the thread on the rear bolt holes either side ?? not sure why I couldn't get the bolts to start in these particularly, but a quick few turns of the tap and all was good.
