It, and the keypad below, control the vehicle time and date settings.
Without an interface you cannot reset the time/date stamps on the vehicle itself, therefore diagnostics cannot pinpoint the real time an event occurred - only indicate in relation to whatever date/time is in the system when interrogated.
Also as the dash displays date and time - for me - this would annoy the hell out of me
The Connects2 interfaces retain this - but not for 2010/11 models at this stage.
Yes that would be super annoying to not be able to correct the date in the car.

This is the dash of the D4 I am considering buying, so Old Jaguar setup would work here? Its an MY11
