I would go see them. If it was mine I would be looking at fuel pressure. You could change the filter or confirm the low pressure pump is working yourself. If the rail pressure regulator has failed it will drain the rail to tank. The fuel system will then have to work hard to get enough pressure in to run.

Yes happens to me if I do not wait until the glow plug light goes out - and in Canberra's real cold mornings I go through two glow plug cycles before starts just to be sure.

I double glow it every time when cold to start, just used to the old td42 needing double glow every time too.

Will change the fuel filter, see if that makes a difference before I book it in. If you have any other ideas or checks to do that would be great. Don’t mind working on it if I can do it at home.

First port of call would be looking for error codes. Don’t suppose you have an iiD handy?

No scan tool handy unfortunately

Glow plugs don't last forever either. Easy to test them with a multi meter. A few dead will give you that issue. I'm used to cars trying to rev but doing it poorly when to cold. It's free to check but

Turn the ignition on and off when the light goes out and then back on and start when the light goes out a second time.

Note the system has the ability to read temps so if the outside temp is hot enough as in summer, the glow plugs do not come on anyway and no light.
