How many kms on your current turbo? That might give you an indication on the remaining service life of the used turbocharger that you have given you know what it's already done.

Are you paying for installation costs or DIY so it's not a factor? I ask as if the installation costs are high then the extra for a new unit becomes more worthwhile to prevent spending on the installation costs again in the nearer future. If your doing it yourself and time/effort is not a major factor then sounds like it would be worth trying the used unit.
Unfortunately I'm very limited in my Mechanical skills. I could not find an experienced enough person who could do the turbo replacement independent of an experienced workshop. The workshop is the safest and most reliable option but naturally will be an expensive exercise. My BIGGEST concern is that the 2nd hand turbo also fails after being installed.

Specialised tools need to be made to access some of the mounting bolts. Cut off ring spanners welded to long socket extensions sort of thing plus removal of exhaust and front prop shaft.

Agree with specialised tools for car owners. I have been creative though. I have a 7 seater so created a false floor from 17mm ply in order to mount drawers and non- genuine cargo barrier. In the ply I cut out slots to fit my 'specialised Benji786 tool that I made (lol) in order to drop the spare should I ever need it. Works like a charm!!!
