CarPlay not possible for certain 2014 D4 infotainment system

I've been advised by a reputable stereo installer that my D4 can't have the integrated CarPlay retrofitted (the version that takes over the factory nav).
Apparently there was a period during which LR were changing infotainment systems and this one can't be done.

They've told me that all other model years and system types are fine, issue is specific to this system.
It can be identified by the look of the Home Screen and critically, the presence of a Nav menu button on the Nav Screen.
Photos of my Home Screen and Nav Screen attached, note the Nav menu button bottom right of Nav Screen.

Just wondering if anyone has had CarPlay retrofitted to a 2014 D4 with this specific infotainment system and maybe these guys are unaware of a different option? Unlikely I think, they do seem to know their stuff.

    Cheers,
    Scott

AFAIK This system Online Store | main will be compatible with your D4. Speak to Naviplus in Melbourne to confirm.

I’m hoping they will be having a Black Friday sale, because I want to buy that kit for my MY14 D4. You have the same infotainment system as I have, although I don’t have factory navigation.

And I think that’s the issue because the system I’m looking at installed by Drive Sound in Brisbane takes over the factory nav. I’ll contact Naviplus anyway and see what they say.

The Naviplus system also replaces the factory Nav as well. Their eBay listing gives more information eBay

Your model is also a perfect candidate for a clean, fully functional Double Din unit.

Will result in CarPlay/Auto. Better sound, better nav by orders of magnitude, better sound and interface of your choice.

The factory system is poor at best.

(On a side note, I may have a solution for those with 2010/11 base units to enable changing system time/date - an electronics tech friend is looking at a solution for me)

About what? CarPlay not possible for certain 2014 D4 infotainment system

My upgrade is “in the queue” in my workshop. It’s behind a few others at the moment.

Cambo@oldjaguar is the man with all the answers to these questions. I would suggest if he says it isn't possible, then it isn't. But if you haven't asked him, you haven't asked the expert.

    Absolutely. Cam has this nailed!

My solution is because of the 2010-11 phenomenon.
I’m not content to not be able to set the time and date in the vehicles systems and working towards developing a small unit to enable such to be done once the factory controls are removed from the centre console.

My mate and I think we have the answer. Will know once the head unit arrives and the tear down begins.

This will be a non-invasive system. As I have had contact from Connects2 and they will have a solution for these intermediate models in the new year.
