    HELP - stripped STUD.

    Hi All

I have a long sad tale that I am not going to bore you with BUT...

I have a brand new Safari Snorkel fitted to my D4 by a ‘professional’ outfit because I know they are a pain to fit - anyhow the thing started to rattle like crazy at ~1100 rpm especially when decelerating.

Any how I pull out the wheel arch cover to check that the bolts are tight and find the hose clamp totally loose 😡😡 and 2 of the 5 bolts totally loose and from what I can see they did not paint the holes the drilled to prevent rusting down the line.

Decide to fix it all myself and get all but the last bolt off - IT JUST TURNS the entire nut & stud rotate so it’s obviously stripped inside the plastic snorkel! I assume it’s a stud in the plastic and not a hex head.

As you can see in the picture I can barely get my hand in there..😡

    I have tried:
    - pulling on the snorkel while undoing the stud - NO GO
    - fitting another nut on top to lock it but it still just turns - NO GO
    - there is no way you’re getting an easy out or grinder in there

I do not want to take it back and get them to do a half arsed patch on their already half arsed job.

I am stumped on what to do - any ideas?

    Thanks
    Harry

Can you get a pair of ViseGrips onto the thread to hold it while you loosen the nut sufficiently to get a hacksaw blade behind the nut?

Or side cutters, they are sometimes a bit thinner and will grip well.

    Good luck with it.
