Now for something completely different (electrical)

    Hi Folks,
thought I would throw this out there see if anyone has come across it before.
2012 HSE, which has among other things a traxide D4-2D kit installed.
I have put a switch in kit so can be turned off when not needed.
When the Traxide is on and working, my time as indicated on main screen switches to 24 hour mode.
when Traxide is switched off, and I change system settings back to 12 hour mode, time remains on 12 hour mode.
Again switch on Traxide and time switches over to 24 hour mode.
Nothing else is affected, and it’s not a problem other than having to go into system and switch to 12 hour mode which I prefer.
This did not occur prior to fitting Traxide system.
    any ideas??
    Cheers
    Pete

    Just to clarify.
    1. Was the Traxide system working fine before you installed the switch?
    If so,
    2. Did you ever use the in cab module switch?
    If so,
    3. Did this ever trigger the problem?

If the answers are Yes, Yes, No then could you describe exactly how you wired up the additional switch you put in?

    1. I have always assumed the Traxide system works well and is doing what it is supposed to do. Never had battery problems, the mode change started after the system was installed. Prior to that never had a problem with it.
    2. No. Never had a need to.
    3. see 1, and 2.
Switch was fitted inline to green cable as per instructions I have read on AULRO. This switches off Traxide system. (I’m not technically minded)
    cheers

Not trying to be a pain Pete, but I'm still not clear on the sequence.
You say "the mode change started after the system was installed". By mode change I assume you mean the 24/12 change, but by system change are you referring to after the switch was fitted or after Traxide was fitted?
I can't for the life of me see how either would affect the clock mode but we have to start somewhere.

I can’t see how it effects the clock mode either but it certainly does. I have proved this to myself time after time. I may not be mechanically/ electrically minded but I’m thorough and know how to work through a problem.
    sorry for confusion,
yes after the Traxide system was installed the clock mode changed at random times to 24 hour mode. I would then go into system settings on screen and change back to 12 hrs. This went on for year or so until I installed Traxide off switch. After simple install of switch lo and behold clock mode change stopped. Switch on Traxide system when I needed it eg long trips away from home. Clock mode would again change to 24 hrs mode not straightaway but certainly within a few days.

I understand one has nothing whatsoever do do with the other, but that’s what’s happening...go figure. It’s not a problem, nothing ever shows up on Gap 2, doesn’t seem to effect anything else, just an annoying nuisance having to change mode back to 12 hrs a couple of times a week.
that’s what you get for owning a Land Rover 😂

Hi Pete the D4-2D kit has an in cab module, by pushing the switch towards the LED (ie ignition mode) you turn off the Traxide unit (ie turn off both relays). There was no need to put a switch in the green earth wire. It would be interesting to turn the Traxide system on via your green earth wire switch then turn it off by selecting ignition mode on the in cab (with the car off) and seeing whether the clock changes persist
    Cheers

Hi Pete and I’m ultra curious about this one.

If you get a chance, after having drive, with the SC80 turned on, let the batteries rest for an hour or so after the drive, and then measure the voltage of both batteries.

Then turn the SC80 off and again, measure the voltage of both batteries.

Let the batteries rest for an hour or so and again measure the voltage of both batteries.

I have a possible “theory” but it is off with the fairies.

    Hi Tim,

I will do that and get back to you with readings.

    Cheers

    Hi Tim,

    these are results:-

    1. Main 12.64v. Aux 12.65v.

    2. Main 12.62v. Aux 12.64v.

    3. main 12.59v. Aux 12.64v.

means not much to me other than both going down a bit???

    cheers
