You cannot use blanking plates on a 2016 -
The ecu will detect and flag a fault.

You have to have the ecu reprogrammed to change the EGR mapping to not open. Typically combined with a power remap.

Did I read on here somewhere that a plate with a small hole could be placed in the circuit which severely limited the gas volume being recirculated, but did not cause the ecu to fault?

is it just a fault I can ignore/dismiss or will it send the car into limp mode?

The EGR operation while the engine is running can be coded out with a remap.

I am not sure, but who would drive around with a permanent red triangle on the dash? You may then have a serious engine fault that you wouldn’t be aware of because you’re always driving around with a fault logged and the red triangle. I’d call that a tad stupid.

If you have a DPF, then you cannot disable or even reprogram the EGR function as it is used during a DPF regen, blanked/disabled EGR on a DPF car = big problems very soon.

On the 3.0L the EGR is also functioning as a bypass valve to relieve manifold pressure when you get off the throttle, like a blow off valve on a petrol turbo, so if you blank or completely disable the EGR then it's putting even more stress on the intake side of things, especially if someone decides to wind up the boost at the same time.

On the non-DPF 3.0L it's possible to reprogram the EGR function that the soot & crap doesn't come in to the intake, but you still have the bypass function.

But a 2016 L319 is a DPF car, so you can't do anything, don't even try.
