 D4 2.7 TDV6 and iDrive
Does anyone have an iDrive fitted onto their D4 with the 2.7 TDV6 engine? What effect does it give? Worthwhile? Recommended?
And most importantly, any benefit to the dreaded hesitation on pull off sometimes experienced at intersections and roundabouts?

Some interesting data on the throttle controller - the most aggressive mode gives you 100% throttle at only 40% pedal depression - so if you don’t often use full throttle, then the throttle controller will make you think you have a remap.
Of course you don’t have more power - you are just making better use of the power and torque already available.

SupporterAny idea which thread? I ask as search doesn't seem to be picking it up.
Any benefit to the dreaded hesitation on pull off sometimes experienced at intersections and roundabouts with the ZF 6 speed transmission setup behind the 2.7 TDV6?
So does this mean it's just giving me the same effect as if I pushed the accelerator pedal all the way down myself? i.e. is all this device doing is saving me some accelerator pedal travel? i.e. if 40% accelerator pedal depression gives 100% throttle then I've just saved 60% of movement required...

And order the black fascia plate for the iDrive whilst at it.
Makes it a cleaner looking install (and doesn’t reflect light when sun hits it)
Yes I believe it does help with the hesitation. Firstly because you are giving it a bit more throttle but also because of the throttle remapping you tend to drive it a bit harder and the adaptive controls relearn your new driving style. Used with sports mode and performance feels great.
And yes - it is just an ankle amplifier. But don’t underestimate the effect of this. LR also remap the throttle when selecting different terrain modes to make the throttle either more or less responsive. The throttle controller gives you even more control over this.
When you first fit your initial impressions are “wow” because whilst your brain thinks you are not giving it more throttle - the controller is and so the car responds better than you expect.
Over time you adjust to this difference and start to use less throttle - sort of counter acting the effects of the throttle controller until you don’t realise it is doing anything.
But then switch the unit off and the drive feels totally dead and you need to switch the throttle controller back on to get it to feel responsive again.
It is a perfect form of addiction - and good value for only a few hundred dollars. It would be a $1000 option if LR gave you the ability to customise the throttle mapping.
