    Kings light bar

Hey folks. I’ve just purchased a 20’ led kings light bar with plug and play wiring harness. The 2 alternative plugs they provide for back of headlight don’t match. I have a 2016 discovery 4. Has anyone installed kings gear on discovery 4s before? Do I need an additional adapter? I’ve installed the same light bar on my ford and it was quite straight forward. The disco wiring plug at back of head light has me stumped. Thanks in advance.

    Light bar plugs

The guys here with D4 should be able to help with correct wire colour otherwise try to do a search here or google.
But recently did my D3 new driving lights and light bar. Basically you have to discard the supplied plugs to the head lights... find the positive feed wire going into your head light and tap/splice that into the positive light bar harness and just ground the negative of the harness to you chassis. What i basically did was positive headlight feed and ground wire into a Deutsch plug and cut the light harness plug off and replaced with the other deutsch end... bobs your uncle easy change overs in future

hope that points you in the right direction. Cheers Peter

I’ve fitted a 30” Kings lightbar to my MY14 using the Kings harness. It is not plug and play. I spliced into the passenger side high beam trigger just behind the headlight, which is blue with a slate tracer. Mounted the relay in the oval cavity just in front of the main battery and the switch on the left side of the steering wheel cowl.

cut the plugs off and toss em, find high beam wire going to headlights and use that to trigger a 30 amp relay, this needs to switch battery 12v directly to the light bar.
You will get signigficant voltage drop on the puny LR wiring unless you use a relay.

Instead of direct 12v to the switch and then to pin 86 of the relay the input of the switch should be coming from the high beam circuit. Make sense?

    See attached schematic.

    Wrong schematic!

That’s direct switch via relay - not high beam trigger!

Why couldn’t you just post the correct image?

I agree with Tombie, the schematic you posted is not what you described.

clearly neither of you actually read what I wrote.

instead of direct 12v to the switch and then to pin 86 of the relay the input of the switch should be coming from the high beam circuit.

and I guarantee I know more about such things than either of you.

I guess that makes you the know it all?

Your post implies the schematic is the visual representation of your words.

Why not just post a suitable schematic?

It’s ok though mate - you know nothing of my Electronic/Electrical qualifications or experience so you go right on making assumptions.
