    Changing thermostat and hoses tdv6

Hi and happy new year. I am replacing engine coolant hoses ATM.
How do I get the hose on the block and associated pipework out without taking the car apart?
    Any clues from the cleverati?

On the 3.0l you can remove the air intake elbow from the throttle body to get more room, and if replacing the coolant outlet, you have to remove the throttle body as well. Im not sure on the 2.7.

If just hoses, you should be able to access with a pair of pliers from the side to undo the clamp?

If your talking about the actual thermostat down the bottom. And not the referred thermostat. Then it is doable. The heat shield need to come off. Wheel off. Good hose clamp pliers. Mine are the cable type and an excellent 1/4 drive ratchet set. With wobbles and uni joints. Be prepared to lose skin. But it's doable

I did mine. Cracked the housing and changed it. If you’re referring to the thing up to referred as the thermostat housing (the part that joins the block cooling together) then that’s what Josh is referring to

DJ I think this is what he is talking about.. It's in the left hand wheel arch..I had it leak before. It's the block outlet into the actual thermostat. It's a scary thing to look at. In fact. I'm looking at it now wondering how I did it last time.

Don't attempt it without both of these. Both available from Super cheap.. The long flex screwdriver is Toledo. The rest clamp pliers are toolpro

Thanks for tips on block outlet.

DJ I’ve got it in mind to do the actual thermostat like you along with the block outlet and the hose connector in the V. Regards the actual thermostat after looking at it and hearing your tale of knuckle woe my thoughts are to saw off each barb of the old thermostat then pull the remaining barb out of the loose hose. You agree?

Probably not a bad idea though it might be really hard to get those ends out without the leverage of the unit. Tough call.
