also limited space in the engine bay!? There's space for at least two aux batteries!
I'm putting in a dual battery system in my D4, and looking for recommendations. Given the limited engine bay space, options are limited and I don't plan to have a permanent drawer system, although main purpose is to run my fridge. Recommendations and experiences greatly appreciated.

Traxide also! (member on here: Drivesafe)
Makes and sells a very simple / easy self install kit. Support excellent.
I’m a fan of this kit, had one for years and super happy. Others have other suppliers / setups that they recommend and discussions then usually involve grabbing some popcorn.
Hi BOK, and first off, welcome to the AULRO forum.
At this stage, do you have any idea of how you intend to use your D4 for trip.
Day trips?
Long weekends?
That big trip every year?
How long do you think you might want to stay in one location at a time?
ALL OF THE ABOVE?
Are you likely to want to tow a caravan or camper trailer?
Are you fitting a winch?
+1 for TRAXIDE - can't be beat
Traxide system (Dual or triple battery options), with SSB Drycell batteries. HVT50D battery fits in the ‘normal’ place between the main battery and passenger headlight, I think that model battery will also fit in the ‘auxiliary’ position by the ABS module.

Just fitted my Traxide kit on the weekend and its great.
Biggest pluses:
1. literally everything is included except the second battery itself. eg mounting plate, bolts, wiring etc
2. Customer service - I called Tim at 7:30pm on a Saturday night with a quick question while installing and he was only too happy to take my call and help me out.
3. Customisable - I had Tim make up the extra rear socket to be on the same side as the existing socket and also to be an Anderson plug (all to suit my fridge setup) and he was happy to do it.
3. Instructions - clear instructions make it easy to follow. (A few small updates needed but still easy to work out)
I endorse the positive comments above about Traxide. I fitted my DBS 4 years ago and no trouble at all running an Engel and Van. The kit is complete and instructions easily followed. Tim's support is commendable.
Also have a think about how you'll use the fridge. If for instance you'll setup a tent and use this as base camp you may want to leave the fridge and kitchen at the tent in which case you'll need a removable battery system. There are a number of companies producing portable lithium systems you could use with a solar panel. Team this up with a DCDC car charging system to use in the car and you have the best of both worlds.
