    D4 10 vs 16.5

Just back from a trip to Kalbarri and return.

D2a had the best long distance driver's seat, the MY10 is pretty good and MY16.5 definitely lower in the ideal choice spectrum.

The MY10 feels like a well worn cocoon that you slip into and is always enjoyable to drive (except when it chooses not to proceed), and I still prefer the overall ride to the 16.5.

Of course with the 10 having lots of goodies, it is weighted down more, so I'm not really comparing apples and apples.

At the price, I hope the 16.5 grows on me in time, plus I haven't used it to pull the brick yet, which is where the more powerful motor and 8 speed transmission will come into their own.

Question - should I advertise (any point?) the 10 for sale on here - given at least some will already have some idea of its recent history?
Its off to Dazza's on Monday for the rear door lower motor repair/replacement, then info collated for the dreaded "for sale" exercise.

Why not advertise it here Gav, you use a great Indy and are always overthinking maintenance, in my eyes is a good buy. Especially better then an unknown car who might not have been proactive with all the little items that can be an issue. Towing is not an issue in my eyes. It's so much better then stop start driving.

The seats with the windsor leather are the most comfortable in my opinion. The standard D4 leather seats have the seams in the middle which I don't like. I have owned D2, D3, D4 V8 and now RRS and ridden in standard D4s the D4 V8 with windsor was the best for me.

    What Josh said x2

I'd say there aren't that many out there who are as astute with maintenance as yourself.
I'm hoping that attitude pays dividends with regards to the new one .

    D4 10 vs 16.5

Advertise in a few places Gavin. Amazing how many people who buy Land Rovers are NOT members or even aware of this forum so don’t limit yourself.

Plus with second hand car prices on the rise (thanks in part to the tens of thousands of returning people needing to buy a car), you may get more for it if advertised elsewhere.

At least here it has excellent provenance which should only add value that people outside this forum may not appreciate.

If advertising elsewhere, then consider high balling the price (second hand car market is crazy at present) - but then advertise here based on what you hope to get.

Selling a car really is a dreadful experience. I've sold a few and can see why many go to a stealer to get rid of them. Awful people who want to smoke and do the strangest things while testing the vehicle, joy riders, those giving the kids an outing, those who didn't bring the wife wanting to drive past their home to wave at the neighbours.... those who don't want to give details or let you see their licence although they'd have to at a car yard.
But the pleasure of making a good sale to someone who is really interested is good.
    Good luck Gavin.

I’ve had better response selling LR stuff on either AULRO or any of the LR Facebook sites than I’ve had seeking on gumtree or FB marketplace. Personally I’d do that, but I’d also list it on FB marketplace. Gumtree also if you feel like getting 100 hoaxers contract you

Looks like you have a bargain deal up for sale in the Market Place Gavin. For comparison, there is a similar set up one asking $10K more in Victoria - so you should sell quick.

Many thanks to you and others for such useful advice. I've always tried to work on the twin principles of "do unto others ..." and "pass it forward" so we will see what happens.

Interestingly, our well respected indie DazzaTD5, who was having a bad hair day on the weekend (probably bloody D4s), mentioned to be prepared for a possible not insignificant time before clinching a deal. I like your comments better
