    Waterpump Replacement Tips

    Hey guys,
Just wanted to share some info incase someone was having as much trouble as me.

I had some coolant leaking from an unknown source, all the research and tracing lead me to beleive it was the waterpump weephole, so I ordered a new pump and tackled the removal of the fan. It was super tight. I tried everythign to get it off and no avail. I ended up making a tool (simialr to what you would use to get your angle grinder blade off). Some 10mm plate with a handle and two stainless pins welded to hold the pulley.

The pins go into two of the threaded holes that secure the pulley.

I just used some sticky tape and pressed around the hole and around the nut to get the profile and transferd that over to steel.
Two welded pins in the righ tspots and it was ready to go.
I had to actually strap the tool to the chasis rail underneath to get better handling, and it came off. It was still super difficult but it was done.

I had actualy tried the propper tool to stop the pulley from moviing but i broke it. Twice.

Please dont tighten your fan guys, just spin it on, for the sake of the next bloke!

The rest of the water pump replacement went pretty smoothly and was done in 20 mins. But remvoing the fan took hours of failed attempts!

Note, in the pics I rmoved teh 2 x 10mm bolts holding the other part of teh pump housing You dont need to do this. Just remove the 5 x 8mm bolts.
    They tighten up to 10nm.

If you're in melbourne and need to use my tool, it wil be tucked away in my draw. just drop me a message and i'd be happy to help.

    EDIT : This is the 4.4 V8.

    Cheers
