Securing false floor for a fridge slide

Have a read of my plan and let me know if it's a vastly bad idea.

I want to attach a fridge slide directly to the false floor to make getting the fridge in and out easier. I know there are better options - namely draws + slides - but I want to avoid draws to keep boot space and I want to maintain [semi] accessibility to the storage space behind the rear seat and where the jack and tools are stored.

To support the weight of the fridge/slide securely, I want to install latches at the red sites to hold the false floor in place. This will only be to support the fridge on the slide, I will still use a strap over the fridge to the factory tiedowns when off-road for added security.

Question is can - what is the material under the green arrows? It feels like mdf similar to the false floor panels. If so can I safely put a couple of self tapping wood screws ~1-2cm into these areas without hitting anything critical?

    Any other thoughts?

The side trim piece are just carpeted plastic, i would just use the tie down points for mounting.
I have a fridge slide screwed to a piece of plywood that is bolted on just the LH side 2 tie down bolts and it works well, ideally some 3mm steel strap going right across for a more secure fixing.

not a bad idea. do you have a pic of how your plywood is secured to the factory tiedowns? Do you still have use of the tiedowns?

Just a hole drilled thru the ply and long allen head bolts thru the tie downs so they can still be used, i trimmed the ply right back to the alloy C channel that the slides and bolted to.

It depends on if you need access under the first floor panel to get to tools etc. If you do I would remove first floor panel (nearest the tailgate), use 2 x 12mm ply wood to cover the entire floor area so all 4 tie down point can be used, cut out large holes to get access to underfloor area (cut top sheet hole bigger than the bottom sheet then it will support a lid). You also need to make sure the extended fridge slide actually can extend out over the tailgate as slopes up a little. Use a long straight edge to check the clearance.

If you don't need underfloor access the just use 1 x 12mm sheet to save weight. Do you need access to spare wheel winder? You'll need to drill a hole for that too.

This is precisely what I did in my D4. Installed a sheet of 15mm thick ply cut to the shape of the cargo mat. Sawed it in half longitudinally and installed a large piano hinge so it could fold up to get it in / out of the boot. Installed a medium Dunn & Watson fridge slide on one half for my 65L Engel. Secured the rear of the ply via 2 coach bolts into the cargo tie-down loops.

    Voila..

I would need to maintain access but not so much that I'd mind having to take the fridge out to get to it. Although Brian's solution above sounds really good to maintain access to at least half/one side of the underfloor space.

The only thing I need help working out is how to secure the back end. do people use the tiedown loop or the bolt securing the tiedown loop or install something else completely? a big enough barrel bolt or padbolt could reach the tiedown loops? What do people use?

I am but a man of simple tastes (skills and abilities ) hence this is my effort. Used all for cargo points with a hole cut out for a 3/8 drive extensions should I need to lower the spare. First choice spare lives on the roof rack for long trips.
