    It’s a statutory write off so can’t be re-registered

At the risk of high jacking this most unfortunate thread, what options exist to get back "extras" when a vehicle is written off (when the insurer is not as obliging as RAC)?

I know a truckie who always used to insure his rigs for 80% of value and was a self insurer for 20%. Apparently that gave him rights to salvage in write off scenarios!

I have heard that some insurers will allow buyback of the wreck, but some not?

If mods prefer, this could be relocated as a new thread to leave Brian alone in peace.

Brian, so sorry to hear about your car. It looked to be coming along nicely too. And to think I was going to drop you a line and see when you were heading out next. I was hoping to give my D3 a bit more of a play, now that I am using that more than the D1 you saw when we caught up at Wilbinga many moons ago. Any thoughts on what you might be replacing your D4 with?

    been pondering this for days

Won’t be a D4 or older as I’m not keen to get into an “unknown” car now more than 5 years old

Definitely not keen on a D5

Considered the new Defender but highly skeptical on initial reliability issues being reported

Might just sell my soul to the devil and get a new Prado - now that they’ve fixed the look and finally have a reasonable amount of HP and torque being produced

Either way I need to pay the COVID tax due to supply / demand of fourbies at the moment
