D4 3.0 has two egrs and they are integrated into the ecu as well as the cooling system. They can be mapped out and blanked, but requires a fair bit of mods to the ecu.
Even if mapped out, they can still cause coolant leaks.
I've thought about mapping them out, but decided against it for the above reason. 211000km and still on original valves. I regularly check them for free activation and any coolant leaks. Happy to report no issues. I did re-seal the flanges into the top of the valves last December.
To be fair if the 2.7 valves were that reliable I'd still be using them. I only mapped them out and blanked them because they were repeat offenders and I didn't want to be out bush and trying to pull a van back in limp mode on the bump stops.Quote:
