Ref a possible EGR issue, research alternative options on this site to replacing them before you go ahead with this work. I am not sure what is available for the 3.0 but others can advise. If you replace them it will be expensive and you will most likely to have to do it again in 60,000km.

Does it start without pushing the brake pedal? Just key in the car, push the button?

Hmmm. My EGR is still working fine 300,000km later. I haven’t had to replace them once let alone five times.

You are very much the exception. If your experience was normal then sellers of blanking kits and electronic EGR deletes would not have a business.

They are a common failure point on the D3. There is not anything like the level of failure on the D4. Unsure why not.

Not so easy on the 3L and a bit controversial. It requires a remap. Bell Auto are hoping to have a ECU update for the 3L like they have for the 2.7L but no such luck yet. And last time I asked about this I was chastised because (apparently) the EGR values in the 3L act as pressure relief valves (blow off valves)...?

my 2016 is at 150,000km and hasn't had an EGR error yet. I do like to give it some pretty often though so maybe that helps to keep the soot down in the engine.

Hey all I said was research the topic before spending big bucks - noting while you guys may not have had issues, the OP does have EGR fault codes.

I would be checking the plug on the throttle pedal for corrosion and a clean with contact cleaner, failing that if there is a TPS fault it will be in the pedal.

    Same symptoms - EGR

Mine has very similar symptoms. Check Engine light on. On startup it would sound a bit cranky and then idle but if you put the foot down it wouldn’t rev. To get it to move I had to put it in low range. Once warmed up it would drive OK. This was/is a faulty EGR valve. It was stuck so it was pushing cold air into the intake.

It’s in as we speak to get them replaced. I’ve opted to do both instead of one now and then other requiring to be done later. May as well do both now. Mine has 260,000 kms on it.

From all my research it’s not as simple as an EGR delete (remove and blank off) on the Discovery 3’s. The 4 need reprogramming work and I’m not even 100% sure you can get it done anywhere. If it was a Disco 3 I would absolutely get the permanent removal done.
