I have recently had some fun with the Smart Key Not Found error.
When I look back the trouble probably started a few months back with regular Smart Key Not found warnings. One morning we woke up and the LED's in the headlights were flashing and the battery was was flat. I charged the battery and tried to start the car.

I tried all the online fault finding and I tried the emergency start procedure. Nothing worked.
Turns out my KVM had failed, from what I have heard Land Rover actually sell a good number of these modules. The cautionary tale here is if you are starting to see Smart Key Not found more often there is a fair chance you KVM will be the problem.

I've just mentioned this in another post...
*Pull the fuse for the KVM, fuse 17 (from memory), ponder life, then put it back. (no, its unlikely to be blown).
*I have had more fuse 17 needing pulled out then replacing than a failed KVM.
*Doing a battery disconnect wont do the same thing as pulling the fuse.

Daz
Yeah all the fuse stuff was done.
I am lucky my neighbor is a Land Rover Specialist and in the testing process the KVM was certainly the problem. New KVM and a reprogram and up and running.
"Smart key not found" - Very smart if its intention is for you not to go anywhere.![]()
