    On the Verge

After multiple vehicle specification checks and test drives I am on the final run down to becoming a 2014 Disco 4 L319 MY15 TD6 owner so I can legally tow my 2900 kg caravan.

Whether this reaches a conclusion will pend on the outcome of a full mechanical inspection by the RACT here in Tasmania.

Vehicle is in above average condition with just on 100Ks on the clock and drives beautifully.

Very open to suggestions prior to making the final plunge as there are so many controversial remarks being communicated that this is a clever decision.

Appreciate input on any issues I should be concerned about, I know spares and consumables are expensive relative to other brand vehicles and its prudent to source OS.

    Thx

Roverlord is a better choice for spares and consumables in my opinion. Mario & Heather do a sterling job of looking after a lot of us on here.

Spare parts aren’t any worse than say a Toyota.
That’s one of those Cruiser owner myths!

Well maintained they’re a great vehicle. And exceptional tow unit. Far better than any of the opposition.

You'll be happy when it's going, annoyed if it's not. Then happy again when all is well. I ticked over 270k today. Never on a truck touch wood. Parts in my opinion are on par our better especially when dealing with UK. You'll cop **** from those with jap cars, but you'll enjoy unloading on them about quality specs and price. Not to mention fuel consumption and turning radius

Don't know much about D4s, but I would have Justin Cooper do the pre purchase rather than RACT.
    He knows Land Rovers.

+1 for that, need a reputable indie. Check that timing and hpfp belts have been done, trans fluid changed out and if not, plan that in plus the steel pan upgrade ( if already available from the 8spd?) Especially if doing a decent amount of towing. Check DTCs and what was done about them.

Don't hesitate otherwise, fantastic car, awesome touring and towing, and very much holds its own on the 4wd tracks.

I commented on a post on FB to a guy who’s carrying every common item that fails on these “in case it fails”, rather than using those new items in the vehicle and performing preventative maintenance. I’d much rather to replace a coolant outlet in my garage than in the middle of nowhere, let alone the lost coolant etc. And alternator on the side of the road when it could be changed in comfort. Then there was the argument of the changed parts failing - well I’d prefer to know I had a faulty new alternator in the CBD than in the bush when I’m fresh outa luck On the VergeOn the Verge

Not to mention the extra wear and tear on the vehicles parts due to having to carry all the parts that could fail....kinda self defeating argument if you ask me.

    On the Verge

    100% agree.

Like the guy on FB that blew a CV… that he knew was making noises before he left and always carried a spare…

Last dozen or so remote trips I took…. extra water…On the Verge

    Thanks Tony

Appreciate your advice, a little difficult to apply as vehicle is in Launceston and Justin is in Hobart. Have you heard any comment regarding Gold Star Autos in Launceston, they apparently are LR savy.
