    Rumble? at slow revs

My D4 8 speed will hold a highish gear on light throttle going up a slight incline (1,200 rpm) and will groan/rumble while doing it. If it were a manual I would have changed down a gear to prevent "lugging".

Of course I don't allow it to continue. Car has only done 65K km

    Anyone had a similar experience?

Tail-shaft centre bearing is common for this. Replace the whole shaft is the general approach

I just had mine replaced on my D3 with similar symptoms.

Does seem like a prop shaft issue from what you describe, but at 65k kms?

I would expect that on a bit of throttle application it changes up a gear?

Might well be the adaptations in the transmission ecu. I reckon it may need an Italian tune up Gav!

Btw, if not already done, get yourself an EVC idrive throttle controller, NO LAG

    G'day Eric
I had an i-drive on the 2.7 and it was transforming.
When I was assessing the new D4 the throttle was comparable to the 2.7 with i-drive. I didn't know if one had been fitted to the D4, or more likely it had had a remap (and still don't) or if the D4 16/8 speed was just that much better - but I like the way it drives (apart from this rumble) so will stick with it. Dazza was impressed with the performance, but as yet we haven't checked any further.

Yes, if I increase accelerator pedal pressure it will drop down a gear or two.

Maybe towing the 3.5T brick to the wildflowers and back recently has released a gremlin. In any event thank you all for valued input and a trip to Dazza is now very much in the offing.
