Fume into cabin of D4 3 Ltr TDV6 & Potential EGR issue

Does anyone notice an exhaust-type diesel smell inside of their vehicle upon startup? It only happens when the vent is on, I assume it comes through the air intake from engine mainfold. What do I look for? the leak from the vent from the engine bay? It will disappear if I switch on time recirculation. Does it relate to EGR vale but I did not check for fuel consumption for a long time since the lockdown from last year in Melbourne? No engine noise as other EGR faults. Can I use Gap iidtool to detect EGR vale pressure? No fault code come up yet. Attached picture was another suggestion of the leak. Thanks.

Ours does/did this, it was a cracked turbo crossover pipe on the left hand side back from turbo, I'd check there for black soot etc..

Mine had that, found it was the top flange of the EGR (both sides) where the actuators sit. With a torch shine down each side of the engine and look for soot on top of the egr.

I resealed these with high temp gasket maker and not had that smell since.

Will check cross over pipe in any case though.
