Correct - but I wouldn't be telling them that!

$1k off for the brakes would just be the start. They originally had it listed for $70k before it moved to the "prestige" section of the dealer, bit much to add $2k just because it's in the fancy area. I'd be also be asking for some extras on top (extended warranty in particular).

Had a look at the D4 HSE at John Hughes over the weekend (Used 2016 Land Rover Discovery HSE at John Hughes Prestige in Victoria Park, WA).
Very nice car, but less impressed with the salesman - when I pointed out the tow bar was missing from the vehicle his repsonse was that'd be my problem to solve once I bought the car!
Couldn't see the groove in the brake rotor as per photos so probably taken pre-service. A bit pricy at $72k, might see if it hangs around for a while.

The below XXV special edition has just been dropped $7k in price only a week after listing (either they need to sell or there's an issue with it), will be the next one to arrange an inspection.

The tow hitch is usually in the lh rear compartment. Very odd that it's missing on such a late model. Poorer still the reps attitude though...

Checked the compartment, was definitely missing. Apparently the previous owner "forgot" to include it - aka the dealer was incompetent in checking it was there...

All good - had a look at a private sale 2014 XXV yesterday. Made an offer conditional on a mechanical inspection booked in for Friday. If inspection is good I'll be sorted out without having to deal with the snake oil merchants.

If it was me I'd be looking after xmas, people do tend to spend over their budget during xmas and better buys tend to come up after.
This includes scumbag car dealers, used or otherwise.

Would be the sensible thing to do, but with school holidays & needing to tow the boat delaying wouldn't go down well with the wife...

Plus the XXV ticks the right boxes & is within our budget.

Not cheap for a nearly 8 YO vehicle - if I was in that price range I’d wait and save up the extra 40+ k for an Ineos. But it would be a very long wait!

Yep, not a great time to be buying a car. My preference would have been to not have had our old 4WD written off, but that's the situation.

Given the choice of cars is between the D4 & 200 series I'm happy paying $40k less for the D4.

    Hi guys

Got the inspection report, mechanic said it looked good apart from a couple of items:

    1. small oil leak from diff pinion area (possibly seal?)
    2. evidence of coolant staining right rear engine area (no active leak, possible hose leak not cleaned after repair)

Turns out the front suspension arms have been replaced recently, which could explain some outer tyre wear observed. He also noted that there were no fault codes & it hadn't been manually reset.

I can't see any red flags from that - any thoughts?
