    Angry Quick Diagnosis ...

    Ok,

The D4 - Being driven by the good wife (as usual) car threw faults before no go. The order of errors as I understand it :
    • charging system fault
    • Gearbox fault
    • Screens all went blank after a bit
    • car still ran
    • Parked
    • no power to anything but car ran before she turned off.
    • Tested battery - 0.1v
    • Cant use Traxide duel (wont switch over to secondary battery)
    • Car off - NADA.

I suspect alternator died? battery could have **** its pants??

Any ideas before I torch it....

    Quick Diagnosis ...

I vote alternator shorted and pulling everything down. Oh and it’ll probably have ruined the battery too.

Second that, at least the car didn't catch fire, its letting you do that if you so desire.

New alternator around 650 bucks, battery be 400plus I'd guess? Haven't bought one for a while. Still cheaper than a new car.

yea- put some power to the battery and it got hot quickly - so i will pull battery out. Not sure if hooking power to then it will allow it to go into N ??? (not turning car over )

i am working out how to move it - well the tow truck fella can - but i am helping when he does.. conveniently the wife parked it in car park that's made it difficult to move ..

Doesn't the park brake release cable under the centre console also put the transmission in neutral? Worst case would be to undo front and rear prop shafts at the flanges allowing it to be moved.

not sure but i got the little select lever under the /font of cup holder - allowed me to select neutral - power via battery pack kept acc on enough to turn wheel and push back...

re charging the battery (feels hot!) - pretty sure the alternator DOA

No. The cable only goes to the park brake mechanism

Awesome, that's the one I meant. I've never has to use it so I'm not that familiar.
