Figure I'd post all the information I've gathered here as there's been a few questions in different threads about this.
I bought a Terrafirma Mantec raised air intake, it was $313 + delivery from the UK (80 pounds to deliver the RAI + discreet winch mount). I did look at the safari - it has better airflow and seals but is a lot more effort to install. The RAI was cheaper, is super easy to install and I didn't think it would be much work to seal. and I prefer the design.
I had two hickups with the installation.
The first - the instructions specifically state to use a 7mm drill to make the holes for the rivnut. A kind member here send me his detailed information at installation and sealing - and mentioned to use a 9mm drill bit. I ignored his advice - assuming a mistake or a different version. only to find the instructions were wrong.
The second - and it may have been me but I found everything to be just a little off / misaligned. It didn't quite line up where I thought it would and some of the pre-drilled holes were missing and some weren't quite aligned with where they needed to be.
For reference I have a poverty pack 2016 Discovery 4 TDV6
This is my airbox. as others have pointed out there is a one-way valve just near the intake. there is also a drain off to the side. It has to be a drain, there is no other reason for the extra chamber in the airbox. There is also a similar part that looks like a drain but isn't open like the other one. Strange design... would love to know what they were thinking.

in this photo, you can see the open drain on the left, the one way valve in the middle and the closed drain on the right

In terms of sealing it up to be a little more water tight...

I was lucky the elbows aren't full of holes like earlier ones

I was hopeful that the tubing wasn't the cloth one used in earlier models. I'd heard reports that it had been changed. Sadly I have some bastardised cloth one with a sleeve. I will get a replacement from bunnings...

I'm still tossing up whether to silicon the airbox to the initial elbow. it's already a surprisingly good seal.

I'll have to work out whether to seal the replacement ducting directly to the flange at the RAI and directly to the airbox or seal them to the elbows and whether or not to seal the elbows to the airbox.
