    the diagnosis

    So.. Im the unhappy owner and thought I'd drop in to thank Homestar and the community here for their help and interest.
    Long story short- Yes camshaft sensor had internal fault, but also when going to replace it, found Camshaft to be not rotating.

    Investigation of the timing, found the timing belt tensioner had snapped, and left a hole in the engine block.
    Strange all that violence made no noise.

    Sorry to hear that. Territory 2.7 engine swap would be a good option.

    It’s not a hole in the block only a chunk of oil pump fell off. It’s a relatively silent and quick end one valves touch pistons.

    Amazing still seeing this in 2022, 13 years after the part was updated.
