I sailed my D4 across some deep >1m river crossings in Cape York and it handled everything I threw at it - except for some quite significant water ingress and not from the door seals.

I've been investigating where it got in and have come up with these three spots.

Up through the spare wheel winder in the boot. I had draws in so use the socket adapter without a cover but even with a cover, the large grommet is pretty loose I doubt would do much to stop the water. I will look at sikaflex-ing the grommet and come up with a cover for it. I thought perhaps half a tennis ball with some foam would cover the socket adapter.

The second spot was behind the trim in front of the rear wheels. The mud caked onto the plastic trim clips when I pulled them out would suggest these are open to the outside. Has anyone found a way to seal these better without permanently sikaflexing the trim clips in? The clips already have a bit of a rubber washer around them but it doesn't appear to be very effective.

The last spot is actually really dissapopinting from a design perspective because it will be well underwater even at below the recommended max wade depth of 70cm. I have the 5-seater which has different rear seats. Under the carpet there are a host of mounting points I suspect to accomodate the two different style rear seats used in the 5 and 7 seater. The unused mount points are not seal or have a cap over them and are again open to the outside.

I poured some water through mount points and it drips straight out the bottom.

I haven't removed the front seats and dont much want to but does anyone know if there are more mount points open to the outside under the front carpets that I would also look at sealing up?
