Avoid the Quadlock useless vent mount....

A shame, as the phone case and the wireless pad are excellent. I'm going to order the adhesive mount and see how it goes. Will report back.
Can’t really blame the vent strength to describe the mount as useless.

I run a mag-lock version on my D4 using the adhesive mount

On the RRS we have the adhesive mount to the left of the console.

    Both work perfectly.

Also run mounts on both MTBs, the Katana, the Defender.
Perfect solutions are to be had Avoid the Quadlock useless vent mount....

Have had phone pop/fall off once so far……not to bad given the strength of the magnet, i was expecting it to pop off a bit more often.

Isn’t suitable for an ipad, we stuck a mount to the ipad which was primarily for watching movies when in bed which the magnetic holds it nicely.

    More secure phone mount.

I've tried a few different vent mounts and agree most are too flimsy. I bought one of these and thought for the money if it doesn't work no great loss. When it arrived I was quite surprised how strong it was. It locks in well and doesn't move and looks good not sticking out too far, moreover it comes with a ball mount that fits my Garmin which I wasn't expecting. I've since ordered another one for the phone.

Did you have the 'old' charge head in the past? I'm running the twist version, but find the phone stops charging quickly due to heat... Wondering if the newer model, which looks larger, may have fixed this...

I bought a charge head, mounted on the windscreen to the right of the steering wheel, and I haven't noticed any failure to charge due to heat.

We upgraded both our from the twisty type to the mag type…..

We reckon slower charge rate and regularly get the message it’s stopped charging due to heat…..never had the massage come up in the twist type.

    Cheers guys

I now suspect a combination of factors - wireless charging generates heat anyway, plus a smaller phone (I have an iPhone mini) to dissipate that heat, inside a case, running CarPlay/Waze/Spotify and on occasion in full sun (mounted on a suction mount to the right of the steering wheel). The laws of thermodynamics will catch up eventually...

Hi Tombie, are you able to give us a bit more info on which quad lock you use and where you attach it please?

I want to get one for my Disco, and am hoping to attach it to the small plastic area to the left of the instrument cluster. I had a look at the quad lock adhesive mount in BCF but I don’t see how it’s long enough or would have the range of movement to work there.

I see online you can design your own. Is this the avenue you went down?

Any advice would be much appreciated as it seems you’ve set it up exactly how I’d want to.

    Cheers!
