    Brisbane AC recommendation?

Hi guys, can anyone recommend a Brisbane AC specialist who knows how to work on D4's? Mine is playing up, still works but on a hot day takes a loooooooong time to start blowing cold air. Had it serviced by Darren from Rover Mobile recently, and he mentioned a known valve issue and also the difficulty in accessing the unit. One of his customers had their AC serviced by someone who clearly didn't know what they were doing and ended up having the car in the shop for over a week and costing them $3000+, so I'd like to avoid that!

    Any recommendations?

    Cheers
    Sean

It needs a compressor, they are not cheap. 3k would be a "normal" price. Not cheap or expensive. You shouldn't need to be a LR specialist.

I think they get scared because it's a variable displacement compressor, but a vy Commodore is too, they are a bit of a bitch to get out. And the bumper had to come off to get drier.

I would call Darren at MR Auto, they may do it or know someone that does.

The badge on the front is what puts most off, they are generally flat out doing the garden variety vehicles they are familiar with, particularly this time of the year.

    Hi,
See how you go with MR Automotive, I don't know whether they do their own a/c repairs or get in a subbie. But as a long retired Auto A/C repairer my recommendation would be Mr Cool: Brisbane's Leading Car Air Conditioning Expertshttps://www.mrcool.com.au
They have been around for many years. If I had to take my D4 anywhere they would be my first port of call. No, I didn't work for them, they were my main opposition.
    Good luck with it

I am chasing someone on my side of town, so I rang MR Automotive. They don't do their own A/C work, they subbie.
I'm not sure who too, but I assume someone in or around Redcliffe/Scarborough.

Auto elec Maybe a block or two before you get to the workshop

They did the final mods to our A/C before we left on our lap.

ours used to take about 5 mins to get cold and would blow warm air during that time, but now its just hot air, so im pretty sure its the compressor/valve, as with off no hot air, so pump must be getting signal/power to pump hot gas around the system. couldnt get pump in au so ordered it from uk online

Thanks, I've left them a message hopefully they'll get back to me soon. Also rang another company, Jack Frost, who don't work on Land Rovers but told me the only other AC company they recommend is Mr Cool.

I've always used MR Auto for everything in the past, but unfortunately I'm finding it more and more difficult to find time to get up there from the south side...

I have had a good experience with these guys this week. Brisbane Mobile – Air Conditioning
Replaced the drier on my D4 which wasn't easy but all went well.

    Quotes?

Let us know what the quotes look like. I’ve been told I need a new compressor. Had been taking 5+ minutes to cool down. AC Mechanic tested it and now it takes 20+ minutes to cool down. Would be good to know what your getting quoted for a replacement.
