    Ok, that's a bit more clarity.

    When there is a transmission fault ( for whatever reason) often all the features that you mention don't work will most likely be disabled.... However, SOMETIMES when there is a transmission fault, the only way you CAN change gear is in manual mode!!

    Which of course in the process makes it a true land Rover through and through.

    There isn't one,must use a hall effect type gizmo as there are no connections between the shifter and it's PCB.
    Other possibility is the slider on the mechatronic unit isn't engaged with a rod of the shifter linkage but I'd expect more problems than what is occurring.
