    Battery drain D4 2015

    Hi All,
I have an apparent battery drain. Clamp meter on neg lead to body shows consistent 0.5A when car is sleeping. Tried pulling all fuses to determine the source but no luck (single starter batt system). After a few days, battery is flat. Have to use emergency key entry.

What is the typical current usage when car sleeps?

    Thank you

Yeah. These will go a month typically in factory configuration.
    Dash cam?
    Dual battery?
    Brake controller?
    UHF?
    Endless reasons for battery drain….

Hi Andy, and there is a multitude of reasons for you battery going flat in such a short time.

Your 0.5 amp draw should NOT flatten your battery in as little as two days.

BUT. The most common cause I have come across for flattening cranking batteries, is usage.

    Are you driving every day.

Are you driving for at least 20 minutes every time you start your motor.

Many people do lots of short drives and these actually end up discharge the battery, not charge the battery.

Doing so, after a few months, and even a brand new battery can go flat in a few days.

What are your driving habits like?
