    D4 Towing Mirrors

Hi all, any recommendations/preferences regarding side mirrors for a D4 towing a van? Also the van has a 12 pin socket, I have a short round to a rectangular 7 pin lead, does this work or do I need to buy a 12 pin lead?

I use Milenco mirrors which are quickly detachable as I don't like the ones which permanently stick out.
They fit into the upper section between the mirror "glass" and the housing.
No probs with vibrations or any such goings on; have done around 25,000 klms with them and very happy.

Do you not find that any extended mirror that clamps onto the existing mirror, folds in with the extra leverage and wind resistance, particularly from oncoming trucks?
If you don't like trucks, stop buying stuff.

I haven't found that with the D3. I used to have a large set on the Volvo that did that under the wrong circumstances.

The Milencos are pretty aerodynamic (for a big mirror) and don't tend to move around anywhere as much as the cheapies they replaced.

I put the brackets on the bottom of the D3 mirrors and have the arms angled up. I find that helps keep the mirrors in line with the D3 mirrors and they move about less.

You will find the 5 large bottom pins are for higher current uses and the 7 small top pins are the normal pins on a 7 pin round socket. If you have an anderson plug I don't see any need for the large pins. I have a 7 pin round to a 12 pin flat adaptor as I don't want to change my camp trailer and others to a 12 pin system.

I have a D4. When I got the van, I first tried Milenco mirrors. Vision is great but I found they did not clamp on well to the upper surround of the mirrors. I even glued in a piece of very soft rubber to help them grip, but was not happy. I changed over to Brunsgaard Very happy. They do not vibrate or blow back. Make sure you get the correct arms for the larger and deeper mirrors on the D4. They are referred to as a "4-Point connection", but what I do is add a suitable ocky-strap and go from the outer arm of the mirror, and clip the other end to the window side of the mirror. Essentially, makes them "5-point". Been using them that way for 6 years. 5 seconds to remove.
