Increased wear on CV joints and boots. Alignment wont be idea, but that could be realigned at your new height
Hi all,
Thinking of using the GAP tool to raise the tow height to match my caravan hitch closer. This will mean raising normal height by approx 40mm. Does anyone see structural problems with this or longer term issues when touring?

It also isn’t designed to ride higher at speed so your centre of gravity is moved higher and are more likely to roll in a swerve condition. How much? No idea.

Go to any tow bar installer and find a tongue with a suitable height.

Probably a dumb question, but have you flipped over the tow hitch tongue? They can be flipped without voiding spec, and it may mean leaving everything stock…

If you do consider a height adjustable hitch, ask the question about AS compliance. I've found a lot of these on sale in AU are not compliant which then raises the question of your insurance paying out in the case of some mishap.
As mentioned change the hitch, I have a aftermarket hitch bolted to the back of mine and with the correct tongue the off road van sits at the perfect height at normal settings on ride height
with the horrible LR design hitch it would be way to low, personally I can not understand why LR design things the way they do sometimes, every other manufacturer makes a tow hitch that works and is very simple and effective , LR feels the need to re invent the wheel and screws the pooch again….

Thank you for the input.
- Mitch Hitch onboard
- Hitch inverted and raised
- Problem I have with an adjustable one is the the rear bottom door will go clonk onto the hitch when I open it. Im close now as is.
Van hitch sits at 680mm to hitch centre, Uniglide car hitch at 640mm - just looking to get it level as per what Ive read but may live with the 40mm drop to the front of the van bar.
