It also adds to the possibility of EGR valve failures compared with them operationally disabled. It would be better still if the testing/cleaning cycle could be disabled.

Though it's also possible to do a full delete in the tune as well, so you could put in blanking plates, just need to know exactly what you want at the time.
This car is driving me nuts, but I do love it. So are we now talking 3.0Lt D4, as mine is a 2.7Lt EU4. Do the same thoughts apply??

    Thank you.

If you already have a GAP, get a patch from BAS in the UK. The problem is you do need working valves, so if one is stuffed it'll need to be replaced.
You'll want to blank the pipes and remove the throttle plate from the intake.

The valves are require to be present and operational as they still do their check and clean cycle. You might get away with trying to clean the faulty one, because when blanked they no longer clog up.
I replaced my passenger side valve, then did the patch / blank. Mine is an EU4 D3, but same process for the D4 2.7 TDV6.

When you get off the throttle, how is there any more pressure in the intake manifold when the throttle closes? The valves are still opening and closing.
I guess that is also a good question you could put to Cambo.

It is one of Cambo’s interstate tuners that is claiming it helps prevent intake manifold failure.

Of course there is no throttle body, so technically is not a blow off valve, but I can see how it bleeds off the boost pressure quicker by letting the spooled up turbo vent via the EGR.

I guess the question to Cambo is - why is this something they felt they needed to program in instead of just programming them to stay closed all the time.

Now I always thought the BAS patch on the 2.7 just ignores any faults the EGR may give - hence as long as they are closed and blanked you could either disconnect, leave in, remove, do what ever you want with them.

If that is not the case, then you wouldn’t be able to remove entirely with the BAS patch and would need Cambo’s tune with them programmed out.

So you are probably correct Brad - just means the BAS patch is not the best solution as the EGR will still be a potential failure point.

I've unplugged my passenger side EGR to try and contribute actual data. Let's see what happens over the next week.

For the record mine is a EU4 MY08 (built late 2007) with the BAS patch for EGR blanking.

Thanks Brad and everyone else. This is getting a bit confusing for me as I'm relatively new to LR. I see Cambo has come up a few times. Who is Cambo??It's now been 6 days since I've cleared the fault and driving it everyday. all be mostly short trips. I'm wondering if the problem is still there ready to jump out at any time, or was it due to the brake fault code and need to replace the brake switch. I've ordered a switch, so may start there first.

    Thanks again.
