						I wonder if this is a viable option prior to these components failing. Replacements units come at a premium price, I am aware there are major labour costs involved in the removal and replacement process.
It appears that the electrics are not the reason for failure, carbon build up resulting in valve seizure or worse case scenario the valve separating from the shaft.
Having been through the experience with a Tojo Hilux of manifold removal and EGR valve cleaning using multiple doses of oven cleaner and mechanical abrasion I wonder whether the same process could be applied to a Disco.
Reading the posts on EGR blanking has resulted in confusion. Could someone identify what would be required to blank the EGRs on a 2014 Discovery VIN SALLAAAN5A738234 and whether there is someone in Tasmania with the ability to do the required remap.

						What are owners thoughts on ECU remaps to boost performance on the TDV6. Following advice that has been posted regarding Australian ECU Programmers I have been informed that there is as much involved in disarming the EGR Valves only as incorporating this process in conjunction with a performance remap.
I have located a programmer who will do the EGR Valves disarming only, however there is a financial incentive to combine the process with a performance upgrade.
Based upon owners experience is there a greater possibility of crank and manifold failures by pursuing higher performance.
Presently I am finding the standard performance spec for my vehicle adequate for my needs even when the caravan is attached.
Appreciate recommendations.
I see you are located in Tasmania Gravy - so unfortunately looks like Cambo at OldJaguar doesn’t have an agent there who can help.
Yes doing a remap at the same time makes sense - but probably best to limit the retune to 600Nm (assuming you have the base spec 530Nm version).
I can’t comment on if this increases the chance of a cracked manifold - I guess it depends on how you use the available power. Cambo also does a mod to use the EGRs to open when you come off full throttle to drop the manifold pressure quicker.
Who is proposing to do the work for you and for how much?. Others may have experience with the proposed tuner and their remaps.

						One of the firms I have contacted. I have also contacted Cameron Knight who has quoted similar pricing however he has not offered the EGR delete only.
Interesting that to just purchase new EGR valves from the UK would be the same expense. The labor component to fit new valves is reasonably complex, still have polluted combustion mix and the performance will be unchanged.

Yes, we can do that.
EGR ECU delete would be $600. Stg1 performance remap $1195.
If done together I discount to $1395.
As you would be sending the ECU in, I can reduce to $1095 plus any return postage.
I can do the same day I received and send back the next day.
