    oil pressure gauge location?

Location also depends on your use i guess - if the gauge is a constantly monitored item, or something to watch only in specific cases?
I have set up an Android head unit and can monitor around 40 sensors, but sadly oil pressure is not one of them.

Pity they didn’t fit an oil pressure sensor just to feed into the ECU as they could then log fault codes for high pressure, low pressure at revs, low pressure at idle, and slow pressure build up when starting. But then just kept the warning light for the driver - like they do with the fake temp gauge now.

And now going well off topic:

For the certifiable passionate owners this is the full list of what can be monitored on the D3 using Android apps (like OBDLink or Torque Pro) and a Bluetooth OBD adapter:

Note: You can make the name and short name anything you want - this was just a google translation taken from a spreadsheet published on a Russian LR forum. I have tested pretty much all of the PID codes and formulas using the OBDLink app and with an OBDLink MX+ adapter.

gee, location seems to have slipped a tad.
I note that putting it on bottom of A pillar will not be an issue as the airbag does not deploy down that section.
As for drilling my intent will be to remove the A pillar cover and drill it with it removed so I don't drill into anything I shouldn't.
As for "I dont have an issue with you doing . . . " seriously?

I like to monitor oil pressure, I grew up driving old bomb trucks and semis, always checked gauges, especially oil pressure. It is what I want to be able to do and not up to others to say they are happy for me to do so or not!!

Anyway the thread has served it purpose as to some possible locations.

Gadgets are ordered and I will happily look at and monitor as I see fit, even if others get their knickers in a knot about it.

    take care

    oil pressure gauge location?

Peter - don’t fall into the negativity trap. You have been given some good pointers. It is a good discussion to have. oil pressure gauge location?

Not all would be aware of how the side curtain air bags work or what is located behind the trim (evident by those that felt the side curtain airbags deploy along the A pillar or the trim gets dislodged), or the benefits of monitoring oil pressure (especially on higher mileage engines).

Anything that triggers discussion and educates is a positive thing. Everyone learns in the process. oil pressure gauge location?

I'll be interested to see where and how you mount the sender. I have a 0-30PSI gauge and sender here I've been meaning to fit but every time I look at the existing oil pressure switch location and configuration I put it back in the garage.

Peter - with regard as to how best to mount. Of course you are free to do as you wish, this is just my own opinion, but I wouldn’t drill into the A pillar trim and attach to it. Adding weight to the trim panel could mean it becomes dislodged in an accident.

Instead, I would look for a pod with a large base foot print, and use good quality double sided tape to hold down directly to the dash itself. Probably be able to set it up to better read as well.

Ideally if you have a dash mat, you could also cut a small slot in the dash mat for the pedestal, mount the base plate underneath, and then refit the gauge holder. It would then be a very neat and tidy install.

Peter is planning to remove the pressure switch and fit this remote kit from R-Spec. It has a port for the existing pressure switch, and a second port for the new pressure sensor.

Will be interesting to see how well it fits and if you can then put the engine cover back on.

At the same time you can also replace the existing switch with a smaller one from the V8 that doesn’t have the long extension section.

That pod is certainly an option, where did you find that one?

As for the negativity its why I rarely venture here anymore. Shame as this could & should be a very good resource.

See the post he other chap put up about the fitting kit. I am hoping that it will all fit under the cover, if not I have a dremel!!
Though the V8 switch is a good option if I run into trouble. I'll be checking everything before I commit.

Now next job is to try and find a bit of pipe with about 31mm OD so I can fit heat shrink over it to act as a seal to replace the power steering fluid. Need to then fit that to some sort of container / funnel.

That was one I saw on eBay. I like the way the base plate is flexible. Just have to make sure the gauge fits (sometimes the pods are too short for some gauges).

I normally used cheap irrigation fitting from Bunnings and there clear hose. Just buff down there barbs a bit so you can get them back out
