    Oil Change on 2015 SDV6

    Hi Guys,

Fairly new to the World of Disco....

Just wanting to check that we don't have a variable oil pump or similar that will struggle to pick up if the sump is completely drained.

    Cheers,

    Nick

No idea, but I can say that if there is no oil in the sump, it will struggle...

Oil changes don't need you to bleed the system - on my 3.0L, I use the extraction tube to suck old oil out, change the filter, then add fresh oil in. Adding the same amount i pulled out, then checking the level display to see if i need to top up at all. All the while keeping an eye on the 5.7L capacity (ie, I don't throw 6L in, even if the screen reads a touch low)

No issue with oil pickup on the Land Rover engines.

LR Time on YouTube is well worth spending time watching.

I followed his advice to drain the oil on my 2014 D4 TDV6 by removing the oil drain plug. The refilled oil has to pump up into the empty oil filter on top of the engine on the first restart, whichever method you use. No issue with priming.

Also powerfulukltd has some tips but is sometimes ... not so good from a quality engineering perspective.

    Thanks Guys,

Had her up on the hoist for a good few hours on Saturday filled and dumped the oil until it was like new (probably 4 times)

Would have loved a dipstick instead of sitting waiting on the electronic oil level.

84 month Service kit is on the way so we'll get to do the belts etc.

    Appreciate the help

    I'll check that one out

Saw the other one relating to the oil beforehand to see how to get into the oil level display

    Cheers for the response!
