LR Disco 4 Trailer light wiring is spaghetti!!

Hey folks, hoping you can help a problem I’m experiencing.

Have purchased a LR discovery 4 (2009) and looking to tow a camping trailer,
However the indicator lights do not work!

On the back the car has the two (one black and one white) 7 pin round plugs, and has also been fitted with a 7 pin flat plug which is mounted underneath.

I have triple checked the trailer side light fuse (10amp fuse) which looked fine, but replaced anyway.

Have also circuit tested the indicator sockets on all three plug variations, all not showing any active circuit.

Does anybody have an idea where I should look next? I’ve had a look in the panel at the very back left of the vehicle from the boot where the wiring passes, it is absolute spaghetti I and difficult to trace anything, but there appear to be a positive and negative wires with female (bohemian??) fittings on it coming from the underneath of a large metal box that is stuck to the inside of the panel just in front of the car indicators, these two wires are not connected to anything.

Car indicators work just fine also.
Brake and running lights on the trailer all work fine also

    Cheers

    Wiring

Sometimes you just have to bite the bullet and remove a previous owners debacle. The box you mentioned may contain load resistors to facilitate the use of LEDS on the towed trailer.

Thanks for your reply, have attached photos below in the links.

That box does look similar to some of the LED converters so your probably right about that.

Unit looks like one of "Smart Logic Electrical" products, wiring for these utilise the standard trailer plug wiring colour code.

Interestingly I have access to both LED and non LED trailer lights (actual trailer and a standard bike rack light mate) both have working brake and running lights, both have non functioning indicators. The fact that both left and right indicator lights don’t work on all three trailer plugs on the car should mean it’s most likely a fuse, or poor grounding, but have checked all of those thrice to no avail.

Anything else I could be missing?

    Just a quick update guys,

Following some detailed advice from Gravy on this thread, I was able to make identify that the problem came from the ‘on/off@ switch being disconnected from under The LED converter. At some stage something heavy has been placed on top of the wires (had to remove a spare hitch from this section when I opened it, which had resulted in these two wires popping off.
Have replaced the $2 switch and reconnected, and everything looking peachy!

    Thanks everybody for your help.

Lesson learnt is don’t store heavy metal trailer hitches loosely in your electrical wiring compartments!! (If anyone really needs to learn this lesson)
