Question MY12 D4 TDV6 won't start and engine oil running down side of

Whilst driving the our MY12 D4 TDV6 came to a halt and had to be delivered home on the back of a truck. The engine would initially start and run, but very roughly and undrivable, but now will not start at all.

I noted today that there is engine oil leaking out when attempting to start the engine. Having removed the underbelly cover it's running down where the automatic transmissions bell housing meets the engine on the right side (when sitting inside the vehicle) - presumably coming out from near the backside of the head area which isn't easily visible.

There are no fault codes displaying on the GAP Diagnostic IID Tool.

Any tips or ideas? What's up the back of the engine that could be leaking the engine oil down?

If its the same as the D3... the vacuum pump is basically on the back of the drivers side head..

If that is whats leaking, I am not sure if that will cause the engine not to run..

How much oil is leaking? Might just be a coincidence, mine leaked from the when I didn't do the oil filter properly and when the oil cooler died.

I agree that the oil leak and the not starting might be two unrelated issues.
There’s a fair bit of oil that comes out when attempting to start with the engine turning over.

If it's clearly coming when you're cranking. Then that's to much.. Is there oil in the valley?

I turn my phone on video and jam it into places to see if I can find the leaks

it looks like its only running down one side of the auto and you can see the insulation on the crossover pipe is soaked with oil, it may well be the vacuum pump.

the 4 items that cause the oil to leak on the top of the auto are:
*oil filter incorrectly fitted, includes the oring.
    *oil cooler failure
    *vacuum pump failure.
    *turbo oil feed line.

*i have seen a 5th one, the inlet manifold while not cracked was leaking at the back of the engine.

Vehicle ended up being sent to the local independent specialist due to being time poor with my D2 Td5 and the BMW both already in my garage needing attention. The issue is with the vacuum pump apparently, but unsure what exactly has happened or way. Apparently body off job for repair. He's got a month + backlog infront of it though...
