Replacement air struts & other bits

    Hi everyone
Where are people sourcing replacement air struts these days? Ours are way past due and the big bus is floating around on the road like the QE2 in a 12m swell. Our D4 is a 2011 HSE with about 210,000km on it and no doubt the air struts are still the originals. We've decided (after the engine replacement) that we'll be keeping the D4 for quite some time into the future. As part of that decision is to bring up to scratch the suspension, so I've been amassing some bits and pieces like LCA's new CV drive shaft (left front is knocking), new air seals for the air blocks and compressor, and now need to look at buying new air struts.
Any recent purchases of the air struts (front or rear) and maybe even where I could pickup a Gap IID tool from as well would be appreciated.
    Cheers

I got a set of rear air springs overnighted to me in Kununurra from Darwin, $750 each.

Not a complex job, and probably much easier if not in the sun in a car park :-)

I borrowed a friend’s D4 2016 and noticed the struts were branded BWI by that era of deliveries.

I just replaced mine 6 weeks ago. I sourced the front from LR Parts they were around $900 delivered and I got the rear from Island 4x4 for about $850 delivered both were BWI branded as apparently that’s who Delphi is now. The reason I had to get them from 2 different suppliers is apparently from LR Parts the rear ones for some reason the courier wouldn’t pick up. LR Parts was about 10 days, Island was less than a week ( I just got a Gap tool from Island 4x4 and it was 4 days from the UK). While I was at it I also replaced the seals in the valve blocks.

Did the change about 18 months ago when Advanced factors in the uk offered the 4 bwi units as a package deal.
Cant remember what it cost as i bought a radiator and several other items but delivered to my door was 2/3 the price of sourcing local including the DHL delivery.. which took 6 days from the UK to my door in Darwin..
I remember i ordered a new phone from Sydney the same day and it arrived 5 days after the UK stuff even when i paid for express post.. go figure..

I dont bother shopping local anymore as the mark up is just outragious.

When I purchased my GAP tool from Island a almost 2 weeks ago it arrived in 4 days, the day before I ordered it I ordered a Garmin GPS watch from Melbourne which was apparently in stock and it still hasn’t arrived. Apparently it has been shipped according to the tracking.

Air struts - buy OEM only

Hi - my advice is buy OEM only - a few years back I was unemployed and decided to "save" some money and bought front airstruts off ebay - Massive mistake. They worked just fine at normal height and access but at full height they were rock hard and was like riding on bumpstops - and wouldn't go to super extended mode. Dont be tempted to "save" money. I always go with OEM products now.

I replaced the front air springs in Jan 2023 on my 2011 RRS L320 (same As L319). Bought from Advanced Factors UK on Friday night for $1140 pair. Delivered to me in Brisbane the following Wednesday.
