I think if you google it, there is a topix article with the part number on it
Hi all
we have a 2012 D4 3.0 (last of the 6 speed) need to replace the RCV. Will DIY, I've done a VW previously.
Does anyone have a part number / listing handy please?
thanks

SubscriberI love how they say “remove compressor”, like it’s a fine minute job

Many thanks, I have ordered part as per list.

Just a follow up:
I got a new valve for the AC compressor and Dad brought his car back down and we have a bit of time to swap the new valve in. I read all the horror stories about removing a million bits to get to it so I psych myself up and start - with the tyre.
- LH front tyre off
- guard lining remove
At this point I have a good look around and to my surprise The valve is facing outwards - one of the kids walks in and he's tasked with threading a hand in from under and fwd of the suspension - electrical connector removed.
He then gets a crash lesson on circlips and before I know it the circlip is out...
- valve out - new valve in
- circlip back in was VERY fiddly and took many attempts but we got it on.
- plug on
DONE!!
I do have a 2 post lift, and I'd say it's not possible to do this on the ground - well it would be extremely difficult. It would be a lot easier if the half shaft was removed as you could then get 2 hands into the valve - that may allow enough access for the job to be done on the ground.
In short - the RCV valve can be changed with only the tyre and guard liner removed (SDV6 engine)

That is awesome you've managed to get it done in less time than expected - miracles do happen! I had to replace my compressor and it was a bastard of a job. Would just stump up the money and pay someone next time. Well worth it though driving in 33 degree Sydney heat today.
