    orange engine outline fault

got this light on and reduced performance, reader says particulate filter emissions problem
Wondering is this issue fixable and how, this was a huge tow Saturday last , trucked along at 70 to 80, had to turn trailer brakes off as one drum was locking, there is no doubt d 3 ,4 is the best tug out there, i built the trailer, vinned it for 3500kg, fitted 4500kg axle set up
we had turbo issues and limped the last 10km, sprayed the turbo actuator with mix kero and oil, seems ok, but lkg at a 2016 d4 hse with 125000 this w/end, then big trip to VIC/SA with light van
any help will be gratefully received, tel is 0473191995
    thanks Stu

Have you got a Gap tool or similar?

Your post reads like the dpf is blocked. Weird thing is, most au spec Disco's don't have one, at least the earlier D4s didn't. Usually during a long trip the dpf gets burned clean at sustained speed for a predetermind amount of time. Not sure how to manually clean. All I could suggest is:
    - clean your MAF and MAP sensors, these are located in the inlet tract, use special sensor cleaner, not brake cleaner and definitely not compressed air on the MAP sensor!
    - go for a nice long drive (not towing) this should clean the dpf
    - check the actuatoe, however the later model D4s have a better turbo actuator linkage that doesn't get stuck like the old ones did.
    - check the intercooler hoses for splits or cracks, this is where you will lose boost pressure.

Also, does your code reader tell you the actual error code? this will help you to better understand the actual issue and help this forum to help you. The GAP iid is what most use. There are others around that are as good.

    Good luck

My D3 wouldn't burn off the DPF because the downstream exhaust temperature sensor wiring was broken. No codes were set, the ECU just defaulted to 120C and the DPF blocked up.

Mine had a sensor post catalyst (pre-DPF) and post-DPF.

Sorry. It wasn’t clear from your description that you knew what it was called. (A bit like people calling the oil pressure light the “genie lamp” light.)

Hell’s Bells! Sorry to hear about that. A friend had a stroke a while back and his memory has taken a battering, too.

I hope things are improving for you. It’s not something I’d wish on anyone.
