Yeah not ideal but still better than a 30k 3.0 and they are still about with lowish k's.

Paying someone to do it,probably still be something around $20K,at least, then you end up with a butchered vehicle, second hand motor, huge drop in resale value.Even replacing a D3 2.7 with a Territory motor in a D3 is somewhere between 15 to 20K.
At least with a 3.0L,new crate motor(if available),or a rebuild, vehicle is back how it was.
Depends on what your long term plans for the vehicle are.
If you can do the work yourself, have a hoist, the knowledge, the time and can have the vehicle off the road for a month or more,it would obiously work out a lot cheaper.
Anyway,each to their own.
At (only) 110,000 klms you don't need new turbo's, fuel pump, injectors, etc etc. so no point in paying mega bucks for a new crate motor.
Get the turbo's cleaned for any debris.
Since the shaft hasn't snapped (nor brg seized?) then the block should be ok, just check tunnel bore alignment and if ok just "do" the bottom end.
Still navigating the map of Tasmania Ian.[smilebigeye]
You'd have thought sometime in the last three weeks Tombie would have made time to duck down to Encounter Bay and sort it, while you are away. Pedro's in the zone too, with time on his hands. What happened to the mateship and assistance this forum was once known for?[wink11]
Note, Epic Dragon didn't get a mention, she's dealing with her own issues.
Des probably isnt allowed out alone and no way is Mrs. B going to spend a morning supervising him, supervising them. [bigrolf]
