Thread: 2023 state of play for upgrade kits D4 2010 small screen with buttons to 2-din

I know there has been much discussion on conversion/modification potential for all the d4 audio iterations, but thought it might not be right to post in an old thread, so I'm presenting there.

I have read here that (as of several years ago) the Aerpro harnesses that were provided in early upgrade kits were not compatible with small screen w/buttons. is that correct? I am hoping that Aerpro and the retailers have sorted this out. Below is the link for the current upgrade kit for small screen w/buttons - they have other kits for other systems I the D4, so I am feeling somewhat optimistic. Has anyone fitted out of these?

They supply the blank for the factory controller with a blank for the clock socket in this particular early-D4 controller (which had no clock), but am considering fitting another dial there - aftermarket clock or voltmeter, water temp or maybe inclinometer or compass - anyone know the outside diameter of the clock 52mm?)

I have my eye on one of the Pioneer DMH or Alpine ILX units (there are various models in each series, obviously, however), do you have any opinions or experiences on either of these?
