    Transmission fault

Ok went out to my car this morning it's a 09 disco 3 v6 petrol started it went to reverse out and transmission fault limited gears came up.on the dash car is stuck in park and will not move come out of park and other message is special functions not available. I haven't had a chance to get a landrover scan tool as yet only had the car on the road a couple weeks without any dramas any ideas pointing me in the right direction would be appreciated
    Thanks Russ

Have you ever changed the brake switch ?
Try shifting out of park with the handbrake on but don't touch the brake pedal,do this after a shutdown and remove them re-insert the key.
I don't think it's a genuine trans fault but more a cascade fault because of another component.

Forgot to add that there is a release lever on the shifter under the console which I believe you can reach by removing the Rh cup holder.

Ok so new brake switch didn't solve the problem looks like I need to buy a scan tool. Went to check fuses and check what I could make out were anything to do with my prob but can't really make heads or tails of the fuse diagrams. What scan tools should I be looking to get without killing the Xmas beer money
    Cheers Russ

Reading faults would be best but a starter battery that is not the full quid will bring up transmission faults.

What's your location, can't tell when using the app.
Cheap obd tool is from OBD2 Australia, $42 and works on my D3 and other vehicles.

I'm North of the River and have Gap tool. I also have a generic OBD2 scanner from when my wife had a VW, but it's close enough to useless on the D3.

Yeah Brad I tried mine.from the amarok and was useless. I also tried a cheaper one that my son bought was next to useless as well so gonna need to add another one to my collection of scan tools.
