For those asking about the offending cv. The outer was trashed with ball bearings dropped. The inner I wrecked the boot getting out

Well today I went through the process of changing my two drive shafts. I probably should have read the manual or watched a video first (Eg Shane’s wonderful video), but alas I didn’t. This led me to fighting to undo the bottom ball joint when that helped me none. Top one undone, more luck.

Found a split tie rod end boot on the drivers side so will have to fix that.

Anyhow, got the drive shafts changed and some new brake discs at the same time. The old shafts had a noticeable amount of play on the inner joints on both sides.

And as per the OP, the left hand cv was stuck fast. I really didn’t want to release, but got lucky in the end.
