Thread: Looking for the best way to lift a D4

Welcome to LR ownership.

Have a search on here, this has been covered before. The X-LIFTER and LLAMS are the best two options, allowing a few more ride height options.

With EAS you don't need a permanent lift, this affects centre of mass and your lower control arms and other suspension bits.

Servicing the air compressor and valve blocks is recommended, again, have a search on here for the detail.

Gap tool can also do it.

Depends on what you are trying to achieve / where you are driving.
The D4 has great flexibility in ride height built in.
Adding Llams or using a GAP tool will give you better control…but again, what are you thinking / what driving are you thinking about?

Whats your intended use for the vehicle? 265-60-18 is a perfect tyre size for all-round
265-65-18 is a nice upgrade and doesnt need a permenant lift.. Im running this until 1pm today and then returning back to 265-60-18 as its just a much nicer all-round experience..

I have NOT found any benefit from the 265-65 over the 265-60 except a loss of pick up and slightly higher fuel burn - the 265-60 will do all the offroading with ease - and my vehicle spends a LOT of its time doing that

Permenant lift will increase wear rates on CVs, dents performance and fuel economy, adds some handling dynamic changes when towing.. Hence my return to the next size down this afternoon

righto mate , yeah im just after as much rubber as possible to deflate for the sand and not being restricted to 40km an hour witht he offroad mode

Rods are available as well to trick the system to stay up and work well and are simple and cheap and removable.

With tyres let down to 16-18 and DSC off I’ve not found a sand challenge it does not eat up. If you don’t learn the DSC off trick you’ll be bogged in the second car length of sand.

I’ve got rods but today was the first day I used the height adjustment feature on the Gap tool which was amazing.

I set the new ‘normal’ height and had this salt water creek to cross so raising to off-road height with the new lift setting gave me extra extension lift to get minimum wetting!
