    2005 V8 Disco 3 HSE 250k km am I a bit crazy?

After missing out on a V8 RRS I am getting close to pulling the trigger on this vehicle as I am done with wasting money on late model vehicles that drop faster than a pair of knickers on a working girl. Everything works, no hard codes that I can see with a pretty decent service history and I guess my only fear (after just coughing up nearly $8K for a 6HP26 rebuild on my 740li) is trans issues. Its had the pan swap and serviced 30K km ago and shifts smoothly, no hesitation or clunks....is there any obvious clues if it is about to **** the tin? My BMW decided at 130k km it needed to cause me pain. Engine sounds very smooth, no rattles and when I took the filler cap off virtually no blow by and only a minor change to revs. Some dampness on the transfer case but no dripping oil and it selected all the offroad modes.
I don't want to suffer from analysis paralysis and having had 4 Landcruisers they just bore the hell out of me and the V8 diesels can come some hefty repair bills as a couple of mates have found out. I also just got stuck with a total of 6 injectors on my old BT50....as usual they just blame bad fuel for everything so I am pretty much done with diesel engines. Sorry to ramble and I have a bout two days to decide
    Thanks for reading

Torque converter shuddering is usually a sign they are on their way out but often a new TC and they are good for a few k more if serviced, new solenoids and a valve rebuild can usually extend the life further.
Cant offer anything on the V8 as my TDV6 has been almost perfect for 7 years.

Go for it, they are a cool car and a great engine. I'm with you being over diesel engines.

If your budget permits the D4 SCV6 would be a sweet ride, it has the V6 petrol supercharged engine in a D4 package. I've seen 2 for sale on line, one in vic, the other in qld.

So long as it's priced well I'd be buying it.
Personally I purchased a MY09 D3 HSE TDV6, and I'd much rather have bought the V8, but couldn't find any in the later D3 specs.

    ^^ What he said.

I helped Grasshoppr out with an issue on his early V8 and I sat in the drivers seat an restarted it because I could barely hear it tick over. Really, really smooth.

If I knew then what I know now I'd have picked up a V8. We looked at several before settling on the Antichrist.
