    Brake hoses

Hi, where do people go to buy flexible brake lines. I have a 2005 Discovery TDV6, based in Melbourne. I've tried my local automotive parts people with no luck, and I've been quoted around $100 each for custom made units.

There are a number of local supplers that list them, e.g., TR Spares.

I checked my local supplier's website (KLR Automotive) but they aren't listed. However, they can get them in quite quickly if I needed them. It would be interesting to find out what they'd charge as their price for Defender hoses is only $19-22.

British Auto Parts have quoted me about $180 each for front hoses and $40 each for rear hoses, plus GST. No-one seems to have a complete set of hoses. I'm waiting for Paddock Spares in the UK to come back with prices.

I bought these, before the local Indy advised it was a huge job to change the hoses, and that they basically never fail. I'm not sure I entirely believe that, but for now, it remains on my to-do list...

When I did mine on the D4, they had kits at Advanced Factors. Easy easy to replace and bleed as per any other car.

I would go for either OEM rubber, or AM stainless braided Teflon lines, not AM rubber ones.

Perhaps different on your Disco, but I doubt it.

To be honest, I think the Indy just forgot I had asked them to do it, and then CBF...

Dave, Advanced factors or LR parts have excellent websites with prices and freight cost calculated at checkout. Both post quickly so will get them in under a week.

I just did mine with the Goodridge Braided line kit from Rimmer Bros (PN-DA2673). Mine looked fine but after 14 years of service, it was time to refresh.

They weren't too bad to replace. Replacing the hard lines would be a massive pain the the a$$.

I used similar to these these line clamps to hold the fluid in while I replaced the line. Brake and fuel line stopper clamps KING TONY - Robson'''s Tool King Store

Might I suggest to get rid of the disc wear sensor wires when you're down there?

Has anyone used the aftermarket brake hoses from LR Parts? Any comments?
