The time has come - sad

The challenges of GVM limits have finally needed to be addressed. We are planning on selling our dearly beloved 2014 D4 SE. It has been the best car we have ever had and still runs like a brand new vehicle. Unfortunately, I've had to go to the dark side. The D4 has towed the van wonderfully when needed and is still a much better handling car and more comfortable than the new 300. Not sure where I'll sell it but if anyone wants to ask questions you can PM me. I'll also be posting on the tyres forum the 5 Moab 18" wheels plus tyres separately.

This group has been wonderful and have appreciated all the help at times. I'll lurk for a while longer.

There is no compulsion to own a Land Rover, to remain in this community.

It's easier not to regret if you're not constantly reminded of what you've compromised.

Land Rover owners have empathy for other Land Rover owners and sympathy for non
    Land Rover owners.

Am I right in assuming that you will be giving the LC300 a GVM upgrade? If so what will be the new GVM?

Yes Dale. Just had Pre-Rego GVM/GCM upgrade. 4200 GVM, 7700 GCM.

Don't plan on loading it up, but it does increase rear axle load by 470kg over standard, so should give plenty of leeway.

My brother has a playdoh and my old man had (now mum's) a 200 series. Both had "GVM upgrades" and both turn into ****ing pogo sticks unless loaded close to the full rating. In fact when my brother had his pretend landcruiser done his wife complained about the ride. He went back to the suspension place and got "it'll ride like **** unless loaded so put 300kg of sand bags in the back when you're not towing".

I borrowed the 200 series to take a ride to Denmark and back while I had the cooling system apart on the D3. Never again.

I hope they've sorted out the "upgrades" on the 300 series for your sake.

Haven't loaded up vehicle yet. Have yet to put drawers in (which I pilled out of the D4. The 4200 upgrade has adjustable shocks (dial 1 to 9), I tried setting "3" all round for trip to Penrith last week (getting Bushwrapz on new car). Setting 3 is firm but not too bad. Will experiment with some constant load and with van on. Realise it will never be a nice as D4 but what can you do. They are weighing vans in various states now and in Qld starting to fine you if overweight on GVM or rear axle even and can't tow van until you get back under weight. I can see it happening in other states more and more shortly. Vic, SA and WA have done some weighings but not aware of any fines there yet, but it will happen.

I'm sure it will improve with drawers, recovery gear and awning as a bit of constant load. Wife doesn't mind the ride, so I think adjustable shocks on 4200 upgrade maght be preferable to set ones on 3800 upgrade. Time will tell.
